| Lower cholesterol by choosing right food |
|
Animal origin foods like eggs, dairy products, meat, poultry, fish, and shellfish are particularly rich sources of cholesterol. Foods of plant origin like fruits, vegetables, grains, cereals, nuts, and seeds, contain no cholesterol and are safe to eat. Since cholesterol is not a fat, it is found in both, high-fat and low-fat animal foods. * Try to limit sugar and alcohol. They provide lesser nutrients but more calories and boost the growth of cholesterol. * Take fish more often than red meat. Fish oil helps lower blood cholesterol. * Don't take too much of sodium content in foods. * Dietary fiber of 20 to 30 grams a day is essential. * Foods such as legumes, oats, barley, brown rice, apples, strawberries and carrots are good to eat because they are rich in soluble fibers. * Choose meat with less fat and avoid any meat product with more than 3 grams of fat per ounce. The key here is to pay attention to what you eat. Your prime concern must be to eat very less fat. The best way to get rid of clogged arteries is to replace the amount of saturated fat by unsaturated fats and remain healthy. Related Articles
