Lower Cholesterol Without Medicines

Talk about lowering cholesterol and medicines come across as the obvious choice. But, are these cholesterol lowering medications the only solution to the problem? Cholesterol lowering medications may help stabilize your cholesterol levels but they are accompanied with various side effects. In case, you do not want to deal with these unwanted side effects then there are various ways that can help you lower cholesterol without medications.

Oat bran
This is the simplest and the easiest way to lower cholesterol levels. Eating 100 grams of oat bran can help bring down your cholesterol by 12 % to 24 %. Oat bran contains soluble fiber that helps lower cholesterol.

Eating cloves of raw garlic on an empty stomach can help bring down your cholesterol levels. However, if you do not like the vegetable raw, you can use it as a part of various recipes.

Almond and walnut
A handful of almonds and walnuts consumed on a daily basis can help keep your cholesterol levels in control. While walnuts reduce the LDL or the bad cholesterol, almonds contain polyphenols that are good for your heart.

Olive oil

Those of you who find it difficult to include rice bran or oat bran in your daily diet, can switch to Metamucil. Just three teaspoons of this supplement a day along with water should be sufficient.

Guar Gum
Consuming Guar gum can also help stabilize cholesterol. However, guar gum only reduces LDL and has no effect on HDL. Also, you need to consume guar gum in large doses to control your cholesterol.
