Diet Tips to Reduce Cholesterol

Making modifications to our dietary patterns is a natural way to lower high blood cholesterol. High cholesterol is a high-risk situation that should be controlled at the earliest. Lean cuts of meat with very little visible fat are better than meat cuts that have marbled fat. Try to substitute meat for poultry in your recipes. Chicken has a lower level of saturated fat as compared to meat.

Fatty cold-water fish such as sardines, mackerel, salmon and tuna are a tasty and healthy option. Fish contains Omega-3 a group of essential fatty acids that help to reduce the level of bad cholesterol in your blood and promote cardiovascular health.

Make sure that you have enough of fiber rich foods. Examples of food rich in fiber are fruit, vegetables, beans, whole grains such as oats and barley. Fiber reduces the absorption of dietary cholesterol and is beneficial for our digestive system.

Trans fats are also responsible for high cholesterol levels. These are found primarily in processed and baked goods. You should reduce the consumption of such foods.
