According to most of these studies, it has been found that if a person eats about three ounces of nuts over a period of at least one month, the amount of High-Density Lipoprotien or what is popularly known as the good cholesterol increases by as much as 15%.

At the same time, the Low Density Lipoprotien  or LDL levels in the blood of the test subjects came down.Along with this bad cholesterol, the levels of triglycerides were also lowered. Though both the declines were marginal and not considered significant as of now, more research is being conducted to see if further decline in these levels can be obtained.

Most of the people around the world use these nuts as a snack, albeit a high calorie one. This is primarily because of the fact that these nuts are a rich source of unsaturated fats.
