| High Blood Cholesterol Levels are quite dangerous! |
|
The lipoproteins are like the cargo trucks which are blood borne and deliver the cholesterol to the various tissues of the body. The purpose of delivery of the cholesterol to the body tissues is for the purpose of the usage, storage and the excretion. The problem arises when there is the excess circulation of the cholesterol which can notably injure the arteries. The excess circulation of the cholesterol does a lot of damage especially to the coronary arteries. These coronary arteries supply the blood to the heart which results in the formation of the cholesterol laden plaque. This accumulation takes place in the vessel linings and this leads to a condition called the atherosclerosis in the medical terminology. When this happens, the blood flow to the heart is impeded making the heart muscles devoid of oxygen. The cardiovascular disease has become one of the major health problems in the US. As per the American Heart Foundation, as many as seventy million Americans are facing the cardiovascular disease. According to statistics, the overall national cost to overcome this problem on a yearly basis is a whopping four hundred billion dollar. However, the fact of the matter remains that every American suffers a heart stroke in a span of 45 minutes. Among other factors, smoking and lack of exercise results in the high cholesterol levels which may prove to be life threatening. Timely curbing of the dietary patterns is a must. Related Articles |
