Excessive levels of cholesterol could be very dangerous for your cardiovascular health. An excess of cholesterol in the blood is deposited on the inner walls of the arteries and can lead to constriction in blood supply. Fish contains essential omega-3 fatty acids that help to reduce LDL cholesterol. Vegetables, fruit, whole grains, beans, legumes and nuts are foods that are heart healthy. Be careful with nuts such as cashews and walnuts as these are high calorie foods. A suitable diet without adequate exercise is just a part solution . Exercise helps us to keep our heart muscles active. Consistent and vigorous exercise reduces the content of LDL cholesterol and increases the HDL cholesterol.
